About Michael Dooley:

Hello! My name is Michael Dooley; I’m based in Cork and I’m an amateur animator with hopes of pursuing professional work in the future. In my personal work, I prioritise fluid and well thought out movement. I’m self-taught in Clip Studio Paint, and my work is constantly improving.

During my Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, I quickly realised that the path I was on didn’t fulfil me creatively. I found myself craving a more expressive, imaginative outlet. Through friends I met in the Creative Digital Media course, I rediscovered a long-lost passion — small animated GIFs I had made back in school.

That reconnection sparked something in me. It led me to discover the Digital Media Design and Development course, which has since given me a clear direction and renewed sense of purpose. Through this journey, I’ve found the tools, skills, and community to pursue my true aspiration: a career in animation. Now this.
